A Variant adds a new texture to a clothing piece, so the piece gets one more coloring in game. You start from a copy of an existing coloring and paint layers over it.

Create a variant

1

Pick the piece

In New edit, select Variant and search the clothing catalog, for example jbib_000. Pieces the project already uses are on top under In this project.
2

Choose the coloring to copy

The right column lists the piece’s existing colorings as tiles, named by the game id. The header reads New variant · … with the new id, and tells you to choose the texture to copy. Click one.New variant resolution defaults to the base size. When they fit within 2048 on the longest side, it also offers sizes at 2× and 4× the base. The choice appears only when a larger size is available.

Use it in game

On export, the project gets a new .ytd and a replacement .ymt that registers the coloring after the existing ones. In game, equip it by its drawable and texture number.
The exported .ymt replaces the game’s metadata for that ped folder. Another resource replacing the same .ymt can override it; keep the changes in one resource.
If the piece appears without a texture in game, check whether the server’s license key grants the subdir_file_mapping policy. The server needs it to load these clothing texture paths.
