Clothing shows one piece on its own, without a body. Use it to find a piece’s drawable, texture, and name. To wear a piece, go to Peds.

Find a piece and read its IDs

1

Narrow the list

Open Options, set Category to Tops, and turn on Freemode peds only to hide story and cutscene clothing. Set Source to Original to leave out mods.

Tops, Original source, freemode only.

2

Choose a piece

Search for top_0_0_m and select it. Clothing info shows its friendly name, component, drawable, textures, and gender.

3

Change the texture

If Texture is available, choose another texture; the color and the last number of the Friendly name change. If it is missing, the piece has a single texture: choose a piece with several.

4

Look up a name

Click How clothing names are formed for the reference.
Naming reference popover open over the clothing piece

The naming reference.

Piece and Location show the original name, format, files, RPF file, and path. Source shows the DLC, and what the piece replaces when it is a mod.

How names are built

Friendly names follow component_drawable_texture_gender, for example mask_0_0_f. m and f mean mp_m_freemode_01 and mp_f_freemode_01. Pieces without freemode IDs show Ped piece instead of Clothing info and keep their file names.

Recolor hair

Clear Search clothing…, then open Options, set Category to Hair, and select a freemode hair piece at texture 0, then pick Main and Highlights colors. Default (green) restores the original.
