# Structures

> What a structure, a room, a portal, and an Entrance are in Rageon, and where to find the tool.

**Structures** is the Modeling tool for map editing. You draw or import a game interior (MLO), fill it with props, edit geometry, and export everything as a FiveM resource. This section starts with interiors: rooms, portals, and the checks before export. Props, lights, water, and textures have their own pages.

## Open the tool

Open a project in **Projects**, then click **Structures** under **Modeling** in the left rail. A project must be open. A structure opens in the **Map** view, inside the real map.

A new structure open in the Map view: the structure bar, the tool dock on the left, and the details column on the right.

## Concepts

| Term | What it means in Rageon |
| - | - |
| **Structure** | The document you edit. One structure is one file in the project and has one or more parts. Its name becomes the archetype name: lowercase, no accents, and every run of other characters becomes `_`. `My Shop` becomes `my_shop`. |
| **Part** | A piece of a structure with its own position and heading in the world. A part with rooms is one interior. A part with no rooms is the exterior: props and map geometry only. Every structure starts with one part named after it. |
| **MLO (interior)** | The game interior a part becomes when it has at least one room: the rooms, the portals, the props inside, and the lighting changes. Players see it fully only from inside or through a portal. |
| **Room** | A volume: a floor outline at a floor height, with a ceiling height. New rooms are 3 m high. Rageon generates the walls, floor, and ceiling around the rooms. |
| **Portal** | A flat four-corner opening that links two rooms, or a room and the street. It has a direction, from one side to the other. |
| **Entrance** | A portal from a room to the street. A structure with rooms needs at least one, or the player cannot get in. |
| **Opening** | A hole cut in the generated walls with the **Scissors** tool. A portal cuts its own hole. An opening with no portal is only a hole. **Set portal** turns it into a portal. |
| **Entity set** | A named group of props the game switches on and off together. See [Entity sets](/projects/structures/entity-sets.md). |
| **Placement** | Where the part sits in the world: position and heading. |

The street appears as **street** in the portal sheet. The game calls the same thing the limbo, and some Checker messages use that word.

## Placement

A new structure and an imported game interior both start at world position 0, 0, 0, far from any street. Move the part before you build, or after:

* Anchor it to a building or prop with **Select map objects** › **Focus rendering**. See [Your first interior](/projects/structures/first-interior.md).
* Type **Position (m)** in the **Part** sheet.
* Drag the interior marker with the gizmo. The marker is the square with the structure's name, shown while nothing is selected and only once the part has rooms, geometry, or props. See [Editor views](/projects/structures/editor-views.md).

## Interior box and editing aids

You do not edit the interior's box: it follows the rooms. Two similar-looking things are editing aids only, saved with the structure and never exported: the **Rendering box** under **Clipping**, and the **Interior outline** marks. See [Editor views](/projects/structures/editor-views.md) and [Marks](/projects/structures/marks.md).

## What to read next

* [Your first interior](/projects/structures/first-interior.md): from an empty project to one room, exported and loaded in game.
* [Create and import](/projects/structures/create-and-import.md): the structure list, new structures, importing a game interior.
* [Editor views](/projects/structures/editor-views.md): Map and Plan views, camera, grid, tree, shortcuts.
* [Rooms](/projects/structures/rooms.md), [Portals and openings](/projects/structures/portals-and-openings.md), [Checker](/projects/structures/checker.md), [Export](/projects/structures/export.md).
* Beyond the interior: [Props in structures](/projects/structures/props-in-structures.md), [Geometry](/projects/structures/geometry.md), [Lights](/projects/structures/lights.md), [Water](/projects/structures/water.md), [Textures](/projects/structures/textures.md), [Marks](/projects/structures/marks.md), [Flags](/projects/structures/flags.md).

## Limits and plans

Your plan limits the number of structures per project and the number of interiors per structure. See [pricing](https://rageon.dev/pricing). Exporting needs a signed-in account.
