# Navigation

> Fly over Los Santos, read your position, and jump to coordinates.

The map opens in a free-flying camera. The dock at the bottom has one icon per panel, from left to right: map pin for **Position**, pulse for **Performance**, light bulb for **Lighting**, dashed pointer for **Selection**, scan eye for **Technical view**, door for **Interiors**, monitor with a gear for **Configure the view**, and keyboard for **Shortcuts**.

**Position**, **Performance**, **Technical view**, and **Interiors** stay open while you fly, and you can drag them to another corner. **Lighting**, **Selection**, and **Shortcuts** close when you click the scene.

## Fly

| Action | Control |
| - | - |
| Look around | Right button + drag |
| Move | **W** **A** **S** **D** |
| Up, down | **E** or **Space**, **Q** |
| Faster | Hold **Shift** |
| Flying speed | Mouse wheel |
| Return to the starting view | **R** |

The wheel changes how fast you fly. It does not zoom.

## Read your position and teleport

**1. Open Position**

Click **Position** in the dock. **Coordinates** shows **x**, **y**, and **z**, plus **heading** and **pitch**. In game coordinates, +x is east, +y is north, and +z is up.

**2. Save a way back**

Click **Copy** to put the current `x, y, z` on the clipboard.

**3. Go somewhere**

Under **Teleport**, type three numbers in the field (placeholder `x, y, z`) and click **Go**, or press **Enter**. The camera moves there and keeps looking the same way.

Position with a destination ready to send.

The field accepts the numbers separated by spaces, commas, or semicolons, and wrapped in `vector3(…)`, `vec3(…)`, or `vector(…)`. That lets you paste coordinates straight from a script. Use a decimal point, as in `215.0, -920.0, 40.0`.

> [!TIP]
>
> Paste the position you copied earlier into the teleport field to return to it.

**Performance** shows the frame rate and timing of the map, and how much of the world is loading around you. Open it after you change a setting in [Rendering quality](/map/rendering-quality.md).

## Troubleshooting

> **I couldn't find three numbers here.**
>
> The teleport field needs exactly three numbers. Check for a missing value and for commas used as decimal separators.

> **No numbers: the renderer hasn't presented a frame yet.**
>
> Shown in **Performance**. Wait until the world has finished loading.
